Anu Prabhakar, who recently celebrated 25 years as an actress, reflects on reaching this milestone. She recalls a moment of realization with friends about the passage of time since her debut in 'Hrudaya Hrudaya' on September 16. This realization stirred up a flood of memories, keeping her awake that night. She fondly discusses her early days on set, revealing her passion for acting and the career success that followed with back-to-back hits. Anu also expresses gratitude for the continued love and support from Kannadigas, who still view her as a Kannada actress even after working in other languages. She highlights the technological advancements in Kannada cinema over the years, noting the improvements in CGI and filmmaking conveniences that were previously unimaginable. In the digital age, I miss the close bonds and camaraderie that were present on sets in the past. Nowadays, people on sets seem more distant. In the past, the set felt like a large family, with lunch breaks spent together under a tree at the shooting location. There were no trailers, and even Shivarajkumar would come out to serve food to everyone. There was a clear distinction between commercial and art-house cinema. Some films were specifically made with awards in mind. Nowadays, films are more realistic and can still be commercially successful. It's a positive change to see equal effort put into all types of films. The love and appreciation I've received for my work is truly a blessing. I am grateful that people remember me for the roles I have portrayed.

Anu Prabhakar expresses her desire to see more strong and well-written roles for women in films. In the past, actresses like Bharathi, Aarthi, Leelavati, and Manjula had substantial roles that showcased their acting abilities. More recent actresses like Malashree, Sudharani, and Shruti continued this trend by portraying impactful characters that were integral to their films. Anu hopes for a shift away from roles that only focus on glamour and towards more empowering roles for women. She credits filmmakers who have offered her such roles for opening up new opportunities for her. Anu has consciously chosen not to play roles that are significantly older than her actual age, as she believes it can lead to typecasting.

Anu acknowledges her husband Raghu as her biggest supporter. The only break she took from work was when their daughter Nandana was born. Raghu has always encouraged her to pursue acting because he understands her passion for it.He is an artist whom I consider a close friend and partner. As parents, we coordinate our schedules to make sure that one of us is always at home for Nandana. We are also grateful for the support of both of our mothers, who bring us peace of mind as we raise our daughter.
